Why we're building Catalyx

A Different Kind of School for a Different Kind of Future.

Catalyx is being designed around a simple idea: children need strong academics first — but they should also learn how to think, communicate, solve problems and use what they learn.

What parents need to know

What Makes Catalyx Different?

  • Strong Academics

Reading, writing, math, science and social studies remain the foundation of the school day.

  • Small Classes

More individual attention, more participation, better feedback, and teachers who truly know each child — every child should be known, not simply enrolled.

  • Skills for Life

Children learn to communicate, lead, understand money, solve problems, and use technology wisely.

  • Learning by Doing

Students don't only learn the answer — they use what they know to create, solve, build, and present.

The goal: confident, capable children who know how to think, communicate, and use what they learn.

The Five Pillars

Strong Academics Come First. The Five Pillars Build on Them.

  • AI & Innovation

Use technology thoughtfully and solve problems.

  • Entrepreneurship

    Turn ideas into solutions.

  • Financial Literacy

    Understand money and choices.

  • Leadership

Take responsibility and work with others.

  • Communication

    Express ideas clearly and confidently.

Introduced gradually, in age-appropriate ways.

The Catalyx Learning Model™

Learn → Apply → Build → Present

  1. Learn

    Understand it.

  2. Apply

    Use it.

  3. Build

    Create with it.

  4. Present

    Explain it.

Learning isn't finished when a child knows the answer. It's finished when they can do something with it.

Catalyx Labs

Planned Catalyx Learning Labs

Catalyx is being designed to give students opportunities to explore ideas beyond the traditional classroom. As the school develops, planned learning experiences may include:

  • AI & Robotics

  • Entrepreneurship

  • Engineering & Design

  • Science & Health

  • Financial Markets

  • Media & Storytelling

These experiences may take place in dedicated labs or flexible shared learning spaces as Catalyx grows. The goal is not expensive rooms — it is giving students opportunities to apply what they learn, build real projects and present their ideas.

Who is building Catalyx

Built From Experience. Designed for What's Next.

John Platts, founder of Catalyx Academy

John Platts

Founder, Catalyx Academy

John Platts earned his degree in Education from Florida Atlantic University and has spent nearly three decades building and leading an education-focused business serving schools across the country.

But Catalyx is also personal. After watching his own son struggle in a traditional system that did not always provide the individual support he needed, John began asking a different question: what would a school look like if children didn't have to fit into the same educational box?

"Children should not have to fit neatly into a predetermined box in order to be successful."

Academic leadership

A Forward-Thinking School Still Depends on Excellent Teachers

Catalyx is being built around experienced elementary educators — people who understand how young children learn to read, write, work with numbers and build the habits that carry them through school.

  • Early-years expertise

Academic leadership with real depth in Kindergarten through Grade 2 — the years when reading, writing and number sense are established.

  • Teachers who know each child

Small classes only work if teachers are chosen for their ability to understand how an individual child learns, not just deliver a curriculum.

  • Named before enrollment opens

Catalyx will introduce its academic leadership publicly before enrollment opens, so families know exactly who will be teaching their children.

Innovation only matters when children have a strong academic foundation.
